Angry One is great cards and clothes that make a point. You’ll be able to find at every First Friday and at The Bizarre Bazaar for Cancer. Check out what she has to say.
what’s your business: Angry One…greeting cards and apparel that empower people to say the things that they been thinking but have had a hard time getting out. The whole basis for the company is to remind people to stand up for themselves and demand the respect that anyone deserves. Many times easier said than done so if you can’t say it live send a card or wear an Angry One shirt and let that person that what they did or how they treated you was unacceptable. Get your point across so you can get it out and let it go. It’s the ‘other side of angry’ meaning that everyone can identify with being angry, it’s what you do with it that counts. Why not tell that person that made you mad how they affected you so hopefully think about it and avoid doing the same thing again in the future.
how did you come up with it? I was fed up with how I was being treated and listening to my friends talk about how they were being treated. I wanted to come up with a creative way to call people out and do so using humor…it’s a lot easier to deal with the tough situations when you mix in some humor.
how long has it been going on? I had the idea about 4-5 years ago and finally had the inspiration to move forward with it and make it a reality in February of this year.
what is your favorite design? One of my favorite sayings out of all my cards is: ‘Don’t simply apologize…change your behavior’ because it applies to so many situations. As far as the t-shirts go I really like the ‘Respect is earned” design that is on the long sleeve super soft tees.
what is the best feedback you’ve recieved? Best feedback that I recently got from a store owner that was a little wary to put them in her store: “ I love being wrong about making money…people loved your cards”
why are you so angry? I’m not really angry and I’ve learned that it’s a lot better to tell people how I really feel than to try and sugar coat an issue.I’m a straight forward kind of person and have never been good at reading between the lines. I hope I can help people by giving them a constructive outlet for their frustration so they can open the lines of communication with whomever their upset with and get it out in the open. It’s always apparent when someone connects with one of my cards and they smile thinking about the person that the card they just read applies to. Some people buy my cards to send to the person they’re angry with and some people buy my cards for a reminder to respect themselves first and what to avoid in the future.
why do you want to be a part of the bizzare bazaar? The Bizarre Bazaar is an excellent way to raise money for people with cancer while being able to show some of my new designs along with other awesome local designers. Plus it’s free cocktails, eats and music in an amazing venue…what could be better?
